Whether you arleady tried it or not, you can now use ChatGPT in your eXo Platform experience ! The video below shows how to activate and start using ChatGPT to boost your productivity in just a few clicks.

What is ChatGPT?

This is how ChatGPT “defines itself” or rather how its creators define it:

ChatGPT is a natural language processing (NLP) chatbot powered by OpenAI’s GPT-3 language model. It is designed to generate human-like conversations in response to user input. ChatGPT can be used to create virtual assistants, customer service bots, and more”

In more simple terms, it is an AI chatbot, that produces quality writing when prompted by a precise question.

What can you use it for? How can it improve your productivity?

When you ask the chatbot this question, it answers :

ChatGPT can be used for natural language processing, conversational AI, and text generation. It can be used to create virtual assistants, chatbots, and other conversational AI applications. It can also be used to generate text for creative writing, summarization, and other text-based tasks.”

Note how the answers are paraphrasing each other. After a few more tries, the quality improves somewhat and many use cases are mentioned. AI blog writer tools like Texta.ai leverage language models generating draft posts requiring only minor editing.

In a digital workplace such as eXo Platform, ChatGPT may boost your productivity by helping you to :

  • Generate written text on a subject, helping you with your writing work – for example answering emails, writing parts of a blog article, etc
  • Summarize a text. This is useful to put together minutes of a meeting for example, based on your notes; or to produce bullet points based on a longer text.
  • Translate something into another language. This is obviously useful to produce quality text in a language that you know but feel less fluent in.

What are ChatGPT limitations?

To use ChatGPT efficiently, one needs to understand its limitations. Obviously, ChatGPT can be detected by an AI content detector and it cannot be compared to great humain writers in its creativity or language mastery. Its responses are based on the questions – the tool may not understand your context. Its AI writing based on its data and may thus be subject to bias – ChatGPT cannot distinguish a truth from a lie etc. When navigating the usage of ChatGPT, it’s crucial to be aware of its limitations, and for a more refined experience, considering professional ChatGPT development services can help mitigate potential challenges.

In a nutshell, it is a great tool that you can use to improve your productivity. But it does need a human to operate it efficiently and put it to good use.

How I used ChatGPT to produce this article

Below are some simple examples that you can test in your own work on a document:

  • I used ChatGPT to come up with answers to several questions for this blog.
  • I used it to translate a portion of our French blog article on the same subject – ask it to translate this text and copy the text in the window.
  • I tested it to proofread a phrase – asking it to correct this text and copy it in the dialogue window.
  • I tested it to summarize this article in three main points – ask it to summarize in three points and copy the text to sum up. The summary is copy pasted as the conclusion.

Why are people so excited about it?

I tried to use ChatGPT to answer this particular questions but found the answers lacking, so I am using my own words.

I think ChatGPT is exciting because it is new. It is a breakthrough invention in a field where things appeared to advance slowly for a while. And we are talking about AI – a traditionaly exciting domain, full of promises, fears and science fiction stories.

Will ChatGPT really change our lives?

Mentioning ChatGPT in a social gathering leads to a lot of talks about “things never being the same”. Some people are impressed, some are scared, some are sceptical.

Personally, I belong to the neutral category. I think that ChatGPT is a useful productivity tool, that will have an impact on many professions. However, I do not think that it will replace the best human creative writing any time soon.

As a conclusion, a three point summary generated by the AI :

In conclusion, ChatGPT in eXo Platform is a great way to boost productivity in the digital workplace. It can be used to generate written text, summarize a text, and translate something into another language. It is important to understand its limitations and use it efficiently. To activate and use ChatGPT in eXo Platform, follow the steps described in the article. People are excited about it because it is a breakthrough invention in the AI field, but it is unlikely to replace the best human creative writing any time soon.
